ABSTRACT

Digital technology is disrupting traditional operations and now every business is a digital business. Businesses cannot unlock the full potential of digital without re-inventing their supply chains. Stronger links between goods in the supply chain and the data that surrounds them are opening up exciting opportunities for supply chain logistics. Corporations such as Caterpillar and Levi Strauss & Co are tying together advanced technology to better understand their global supply networks and respond to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain in real time, by connecting the physical supply chain to the data supply chain. Digital supply chain management will be an everyday reality and traditional business models will become outdated. Making the digital supply chain work will necessitate a shift in the culture of organizations. The new prototype unites the digital world with that of the physical world.
