ABSTRACT

Russia’s constitutional development encompassed two main trends. One was evolution, within the broader periods of 1855–1917 and 1918–91. The other was revolution, covering the more specific periods of 1905–6, 1917–18 and 1991–2. Within this overall timescale, major constitutional changes were made in 1906, 1918, 1924, 1936, 1977, 1989 and 1992.
