ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the topic of Private International Law and presents my argument for its significance as the legal infrastructure of contemporary transnational capitalism. In particular, I emphasize the connection between Private International Law and the construction of neo-liberal forms of globalization. I review some of the key concepts and frameworks I will use in my analysis and the main concerns driving the argument. The chapter ends with an overview of the rest of the chapters in the book, which provides a sense of the general direction of the analysis.
