ABSTRACT

Music is a language closely associated with our deep emotions and feelings, but it possesses the power to communicate beyond our spoken and written language. The clear relationship between early music making and advanced musical performance requires careful examination. There is an interesting relationship between the acquisition of spoken language and music development. Teachers must take control of their own musicality. Music is not in the hands of others. It is impossible to totally isolate any single component since each one has many variables and each presents a potential for music to fluctuate between simplicity and complexity. The relationship between components and their variables lies close to the heart of music making. This chapter also presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in this book.
