ABSTRACT

This chapter explores a collection of ideas and techniques designed for and dedicated to those who wish to discover or rediscover specific musical skills to use in their work. Some of the ideas offer short cuts or approach tasks from a different angle in order to achieve rapid access to the skills. People who are interested in music making often express dissatisfaction with their playing ability and other musical skills. Chromaharp instrument has a number of chord bars and works on the basic principle of press the bar at the required point in the tune and strum the strings. The piano accordion has buttons for chords and bass notes. A small keyboard is used for right-handed tune playing. Playing keyboards using an autochord system is very similar to piano accordion playing – the left hand operates a type of automatic playing mechanism. The keyboard then processes this information to calculate a bass part and a rhythmic style.
