A) Draw two lines through these dots so that the sum of the vertical distances from the dots to the line equals zero. When the dot lies above the line the distance is positive. When the dot lies below the line the distance is negative. Any line (except perfectly vertical) passing through hours = 2.67 and GPA = 2.67 works. Two such lines are pictured above.
