ABSTRACT

This chapter determines global climate balance are identified, and describes the main gases involved in the enhanced Greenhouse Effect in terms of sources, sinks and predicted trends. It identifies the role of anthropogenic emissions in building up the stock of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and their connection to changing global climate. The influence of socio-economic systems on global climate is characterised by the ability to alter climatic conditions. Climate refers to the statistical collection and representation of weather conditions for a specific area and time interval, combined with a description of the external system or boundary conditions. The solar energy reaching the upper atmosphere will vary with the distance between Earth and Sun, and the energy generated by the Sun. The reflectivity of Earth’s surface and atmosphere is affected by variations in land cover, changes in surface characteristics of continents, cloudiness and turbidity.
