William Alabaster (1567-1640), Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, enjoyed, as the author of the tragedy Roxana, considerable reputation as a Latin poet. As the author of the Eliseis, he enjoyed the special regard of Spenser (see Colin Chut II. 40 ff.)
