ABSTRACT

Robert Aylett (1583?—1655?) was educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. As a poet Aylett has perhaps most in common with Herbert, but he makes a habit of plagiarizing lines, stanzas, and even longer stretches of verse from Spenser. The passages printed below are but an inadequate token of gratitude. See F. M. Padelford, 'Robert Aylett', HLB, X (1936), 1-48.
