ABSTRACT
George Puttenham (d. 1590) spent his days at Oxford in the study of poetry. Of all the Elizabethan 'arts', Puttenham's is the most ambitious and the most comprehensive. It will be noticed that he is still unaware of the true authorship of the Shepheardes Calender.
