ABSTRACT

Examiners have some ideas about what goes wrong in exams. Most importantly, students do not provide the kind of evidence the examiner is looking for. Much research has been conducted into the factors involved in bodily rhythms. Factors researched can be physiological, environmental or psychological. There are many bodily rhythms which last a certain period of time. Circannual rhythms are those which last for a year. Examples of this are migrations of birds and the mating cycles of animals. Sleep cycles follow a pattern which involves five stages, and although these vary in length of time for each person, they are seen in all people. REM sleep appears to be necessary for both physiological and psychological health. Evidence is based on experiments which used hypnotised people who were subjected to pain stimulation and were then asked to give a spoken assessment of how much pain they felt.
