This section includes some comic anecdotal pieces (‘I warrant the joke it will please you’ - it is sometimes necessary to have an unjaded palate for humour), as well as descriptive or satirical pieces about the streets of London. Taken all together, they provide a vivid and detailed picture of the life of the time and of contemporary consciousness of it.
