ABSTRACT

Complex non-linear models combine several simple non-linear models. Knowledge domains of any complexity are bound to be structured by complex models. The choice of non-linear models is usually motivated by the designer’s goal or strategy, or by that of the organization for which s/he works. This chapter analyses the semantic structure of three texts, each one of them lending itself to being translated primarily by a specific non-linear model. A new media product based on such a complex non-linear model would be more educational, and thus more appropriate for a target audience of watchmaking students who still need to familiarize themselves with the impact of context on the design and manufacture of watches. The non-linear model had the form of a big tree.
