ABSTRACT

A little more than a decade ago, I published my autobiography, All in a Lifetime. Only in the very last pages did I turn to unfinished business and compile a short "wish list." This is what I wrote: "I would like Joel's being married before too long and I would like to have grandchildren. I would like to write at least one scholarly book. I am still only an associate professor at NYU, and I know that to be a full professor I have to publish an academic book."
