ABSTRACT

Writing is seldom just writing. Writing is thinking, writing, and revising. Some beginning writers imagine that experienced authors simply put their fingers on the typewriter keys and perfectly polished paragraphs and papers appear. But professional writers have revealed that this picture of their creative work is not accurate. Instead, their writing usually progresses in these stages:

Think about the subject and get some ideas on paper.

Reread to revise: rephrase, reorganize, and reinforce.

Write a little more and again revise.
