ABSTRACT
An explosion is a sudden, violent release of energy. It is usually accompanied by a loud noise, and an expanding pressure wave of gas which decreases in pressure with distance from the origin. Explosions resulting from the ignition of flammable materials may also be accompanied by a fireball containing high temperatures, which can ignite nearby combustibles.
