ABSTRACT

It is a fact that all corporations were created for the purpose of earning a profit on the investment by its stockholders. Critics say the danger of corporations is that they are huge, inanimate creatures that individuals can’t control, and that the quest for profits will, of necessity, do damage to society. Everyone has their own list of corporations that they admire for what those companies have contributed to society. The most important point is that corporations are made up of people, they are run by people, and they reflect the human ethics of those people. The managers determine the ethics, the profits, and the impact on society of these huge corporations. The irony about corporate ethics is that the corporation has more to lose by using unethical practices than it has to gain. Good managers make certain that the ethics policy is right and that it is understood by everyone.
