ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the overall plan of the Qur’an for life in this world. The plan involved the devolution of authority to mankind, equipping people with the necessary tools, and putting at their disposal God’s creation to utilise during their mandate. The plan emphasises human responsibility for their actions during their lifetime, and stresses that judgement will be based on one’s conduct. Note the dependence of the ‘religious idiom’ in the first part, which gives the impression that God directly intervenes to effect the required change, on the natural language in the second part of the statement. Whatever the level one starts with, clarity of mind and hard work must be applied: observing, considering and reflecting upon some creation of God, large or small, physical or otherwise.
