ABSTRACT
Schizophrenia will affect about one person in a hundred at some time in their lives. It is a psychotic disorder, in that contact with reality and insight are impaired. However, there is great variability between individuals in the symptoms experienced and in their responses to these. In this chapter we consider the main features and the different subtypes of schizophrenia.
