ABSTRACT
It was the impulse of the Arab folk migration, channeled through Islam, that laid the foundations for the Islamic Empire that evolved with such remarkable rapidity out of the secular Arab kingdom of the Umayyads, but the final structure of the world empire was very different from what had been in the minds of Muhammad, his entourage, and his first followers.
