ABSTRACT
The mere mention of a political candidate can be a turnoff to some people or groups, and I was sensitive to that. When I tried, for example, to make appearances at Parent-Teacher Association meetings, many times I had to swallow my pride, hoping I would not be turned down or turned away. Other times, it took raw nerve. The reason I targeted schools is I felt that parents involved in PTAs vote.
