ABSTRACT

There are currently many hundreds of trained ELSAs working within Hampshire with the support of educational psychologists. The wish is to have ELSAs in every mainstream primary and secondary school within the county, as well as in special schools for pupils with behavioural, emotional and social or moderate learning difficulties. (Emotional literacy support is needed also for pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, but would require a modified training course from the one presented here. Such support would be equally desirable in pre-school settings and would again require a differentiated training course.)
