ABSTRACT

This chapter provides practical guidance to practitioners on delivering the program. It describes general information and offers more detailed guidance on practical aspects of delivering the program. The program that forms the backbone of this book has been designed as a structured, practical resource that aims to develop healthy living skills in primary aged pupils. The program focuses on healthy living skills and raising pupil's awareness of the influences that they are exposed to on a daily basis. The guiding principle for delivering the programme is that pupils should firstly experience the ideas and concepts for themselves, and secondly reflect and evaluate their relevance and usefulness to their own lives. There is a developmental sequence to the sessions and it is most effective when they are delivered in order in which they are presented in the program. In order for program to be successful, it is essential that every pupil feels acknowledged, valued and able to contribute to classroom discussion.
