“We did it for the money.” That’s why Acushnet Rubber Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts, pursued ISO 14001 certification, according to Jack Bailey. Bailey, Acushnet’s director of environment, health, and safety, said his company found “a real relationship between doing things to improve the environment and saving money.” In fact, Acushnet saves more than $2 million annually because of its proactive environmental management system (EMS). 1
