ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts of the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book investigates equity markets integration among three groups of countries in the Asia-Pacific region: Australia and its major trading partners, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Australia and the ASEAN. It also investigates first group of the equity market price interdependence between Australia and its major trading partners. The investigation is conducted during three subperiods: before financial deregulation, before the stock market crash and after the crash. The book explores second group of equity markets in ASEAN comprising the countries of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand. It investigates last group of equity markets whose price interaction is Australia and ASEAN. The book analyses the interaction of the three groups of markets also with the use of models allowing for autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity effects.
