ABSTRACT

One of your office workers has just left in an ambulance. She broke her nose after tripping over a piece of wood that had been left on the floor by a builder who was refurbishing the office.

Apparently, no one saw that as a risk; and the office staff seemingly thought that risks were restricted to fire practice and how to lift boxes. ‘So what am I paying auditors for?’ you ask. You decide that the business needs to embed risk awareness more deeply into the culture. ‘Let’s start by seeing who’s responsible for what,’ you say.
