ABSTRACT

This chapter explains how a spreadsheet can be used to set up a budget for a project planned over a number of years with multiple partners and shows how information from this budget can be summarized. It discusses number of important spreadsheet commands. The University of Calgary, Mount Royal College and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology are cooperating in Computer Assisted Learning for Economic Principles and are setting up a project for the development of software. A summary of the budget should be given for each contributor, both in terms of money and in terms of percentages of the total project costs. The budget has a number of items that are paid by the various partners. As there are only four partners in the project but many items, it is decided to use columns for partners and rows for items, as relatively few columns but many rows are visible on one screen.
