ABSTRACT
Language is a way in which mankind’s life exists and the home in which mankind finds himself dwelling. Language is a warm home most suitable for human dwelling. Therefore, the truth of the proposition “language is the last house of mankind” depends to a large extent on whether mankind lives in language, whether mankind has to live in language, and whether mankind has to live in formulaic verbal behavior. Listening is one important part of mankind’s living in discourse fields. The continuity of history is also in the inheritance of discourse fields. Language is the last homestead of human beings, as is shown by history and by our present being. The major forms of human behavior are parasitic on speaking for one more reason. Listening and speaking constitute a primary form of human life; what is said is meaningful only in the flow of being said.
