ABSTRACT

This chapter defines strategies, ideas, and thoughtfulness on keeping the job and how to perform with distinction. It proposes that specific rules will help presidents keep their position. These rules begin with using critical introspection to understanding one’s philosophy, especially as it relates to expectations of self and what public image is shared to build a profile of what leaders want others to know about them. The Buttimer recipients and the Sitting Presidents confirm that the president is always at risk of feared things. The business of the presidency is often referred to as a contact sport. It is because there are many players in the game of educational administration. Within the system, all compete for power and control to satisfy their or their constituency needs. If one is to sustain the presidency, there is no substitute for being competent. One must know their business and what it entails.
