ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the economic crimes termed intellectual property (IP) crime and illicit trade. It begins by exploring the different types of IP rights, before exploring definitions of IP crime and illicit trade. The chapter then examines the challenging subject of estimating the size of the problem, before exploring the extensive impacts of these problems on society. The chapter ends with a consideration of the wide range of actors who are involved in perpetrating these types of crimes.
