ABSTRACT

We have further refined what we term TBCT as part of two major strands of interventions: internal interventions and external interventions. TBCT exemplifies the former and is aimed primarily at those who present with some degree of active engagement or at least prove receptive to team efforts to guide them away from engaging in problem behaviours and questioning their motives. Ideally, internal interventions are offered since these have greater potential for promoting lasting and more generalisable change.

Whilst our focus clearly remains on behaviour and distress, our mechanism of interest is on addressing in-situation beliefs drawing upon the full resources of the team. TBCT is illustrated through the use of case studies for both those with active and passive behaviours most closely associated with positive and negative symptoms respectively.
