ABSTRACT

The author was invited to present a paper at the third Analysis & Activism conference in Prague in 2017. At the time, Trump’s presidency was careening from one chaotic misadventure to the next as awareness of the impending catastrophe of climate change grew. Global anxiety seemed to be escalating exponentially, and it occurred to him that our plight was different from that which had given rise to the concerns of the existentialists following World War II. For them, the universe seemed absurd. For us, the very survival of the planet was now seriously in doubt.
