ABSTRACT

The chapter offers an analysis of The Shadow Whose Prey the Hunter Becomes, the last production by Back to Back Theatre before the lockdowns of 2020. An analysis of this play is offered as a paradigm for the investigation of the place of contemporary learning disabled theatre. The chapter introduces key concepts of voice, presence, and performance that will be explored throughout the book but with reference to a specific theatrical performance. The analysis of this performance suggests that learning disabled theatre has much to offer in promoting ecologies of interdependence and conviviality that are so necessary and vital in the socio-ecological crisis of the current moment.
