ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with typical organisational culture and social issues and challenges confronted by analysts in attempting to do their work. Organisational culture in particular can be a blessing or a curse to any Supply Chain (SC) analyst. Positive organisational culture provides an environment that is respectful, supportive, encouraging, open, inclusive, collaborative and strives for excellence. Negative organisational culture is typified by an environment that is the opposite of the positive one. The starts with an explanation of a nine-step process that SC analysts can follow to effectively influence managers to actually act on important issues such as significant SC problems, risks or opportunities. The success attributes needed by analytics and analysts and how to develop them are presented and discussed. The chapter concludes with a case study of what happens when cultural issues go seriously 'off the rails' plus end-of-chapter review questions and assignments.
