ABSTRACT

This chapter describes Arturo’s global south encounter and dis-encounter with radical solidarity spaces during the early 1980s. It is the only chapter in the book where protagonists are primarily non-disabled Latinx actors carving/exploring their own intersectional subalternity spaces of resistance along with Arturo. However, in line with the movement-building conversation initiated in Chapter 6, this chapter also weaves in counter-narrative elements associated with intersectional disability justice leadership development in the global north. Thus, it also serves to prepare the way for the counterstories contained in Chapter 8.
