Kuljit Bhamra book
Kuljit Bhamra is a tabla player and composer best known now for his many collaborations with musicians from different genres and continents, and as one of the record producers who pioneered the British bhangra sound. A self-taught musician, he deployed his deep musical understanding and technical know-how to engineer the bhangra sounds of the 1980s and 1990s. From there, his career moved into film scores and West End musicals both as performer and composer, as well as collaborations with musicians from classical and wide-ranging folk traditions. In early-1960s London, she was rare in carrying an expertise in kirtan, the devotional songs, and also the religious rituals, when newly arrived immigrant populations were conducting their life with little religious or cultural infrastructure. Kuljit is entirely self-taught, which is what gives him the freedom to work and perform in different genres of music and his openness to many musical styles.
