ABSTRACT

Grant writing is a perfect way for an artist to fund the development, production, and distribution of their work while building credibility and raising visibility within the artistic community. Many grant applications will state the minimum number words that each part of the grant proposal must contain or place a limit on the number of words that can be written. Grants are funds disbursed by a government, corporation, foundation, or trust to a not-for-profit organization, educational institution, or individual recipient to support a specific set of initiatives as defined by the grant funder's mission statement. Grantees are the people who will be receiving funding. Participants are people, other than the grantees, who will be central to the project. Strong partners will make all the difference when asking for grant funds and putting together a project. Funding for grants and fellowships come from either private or public sources.
