ABSTRACT

A photographic artist will have a number of people on their team, though unlike a museum or gallery, many of these team members will be collaborators and vendors from outside of the artist's studio. An artist's assistant can take many forms. Social media and promotion are two areas in which an assistant can provide support. Large studios with a consistent workload that necessitates dedicated oversight will have a studio manager on their team. A producer may be brought in for complex or large-scale shoots. With the resurgence of the use of film, there are a number of spaces in large cities where the artists can pay by the hour to use analog darkrooms and digital labs. Many spaces have high-resolution scanners and larger scale digital printers available as well.
