ABSTRACT

The application of anthropology in health is spatial, with specialized research areas such as epidemiology, which considers how diseases spread through populations, and more generally, with the cross-cultural comparisons that are central to the discipline. Anthropology is therefore useful in translating and communicating different ideas about health between cultural groups, in a variety of contexts. With degree in anthropology and the set of usable skills that this provides, it is possible to remain consistently employed with degree in anthropology in academic and non-academic settings. Western public health officials ignored fact that indigenous people have their own strategies for disease control and prevention. More extreme mental health issues often intersect with crime, and there has been considerable media interest in analyses of the social causes of crime, and, more particularly, in the solving of crimes. Similarly, Merry Wood was employed in British Colombia, by the Greater Vancouver Health Service Society, organization with 400 staff members in nine mental health teams.
