ABSTRACT

The introduction lays out what to expect from the book. It starts by looking into bereavement and the many roads that take us there. It explores the book's structure: coaching through bereavement, supervising through bereavement, and the practical activities. It also refers to several case studies we have solicited from various authors, to enable the reader to sample a different flavour of what happens in a coaching or supervision session when bereavement is broached. The introduction also talks about the findings from research on this topic via all four corners of the globe.

The introduction finishes with a health warning. Reading this book may trigger different emotions and thoughts, and some of these topics are worth exploring in more depth with a supervisor or via the use of other resources in a coach's own practice.
