ABSTRACT
While traveling back from work in Cuttack (Odisha) with his constable, Daroga Mukhopadhyay chanced upon a lone young woman sobbing by the roadside. The intrigued daroga decided to help her and after learning that she was from Kolkata and had been robbed and abandoned on that road by some mysterious criminals, he persuaded her to travel back to Kolkata with him. On the way back, he asked her several questions in order to find out the circumstances that led her to being abandoned on that spot, so far away from home. Upon hearing the tale of her elopement, the daroga then began suspecting the young woman’s lover and decided to investigate the truth about the real perpetrators of the crime.
