ABSTRACT

It was while he was touring Nabadwip, for work, disguised as an ordinary pilgrim, that daroga Bakaullah had made the acquaintance of a pleasant-mannered gentleman—Harish babu—and his well-built servant. Bakaullah was fascinated by the well-spoken and widely travelled Harish, who seemed to have lost his right hand on one of his travels. But soon he began to feel suspicious of Harish and his retainer, when he realized that young women were murdered whenever the two were around. What was the truth behind Harish’s disability? Was there indeed some connection between the mysterious homicides in that area and the sudden appearance and disappearance of the men near the scenes of crime? Bakaullah discovers some interesting truths about the two men and their link to the multiple murders.
