ABSTRACT

The account begins with Bakaullah going to a nearby court to listen to the proceedings of a case of robbery in a well-known barrister’s house. The barrister’s own nephew had been arrested for stealing the money. But soon after what had seemed like an open-and-shut case, Bakaullah chanced upon a letter that convinced him that the barrister’s nephew was innocent and that it was, in fact, the barrister’s maid Premada who had masterminded the entire thing. Bakaullah then followed up on his suspicions and began the journey to nab the actual criminals in the case. But Premada and her accomplices were not easy to arrest. Did the dogged daroga succeed in his mission after all his efforts?
