Introduction

This introductory chapter examines the conceptual parameters of the key terms of the discipline, such as “law” and “development,” and the complexities and controversies associated with them. The term “development” is traditionally associated with “developing countries,” but this chapter explains why the concept of “development” is not only relevant to developing countries but can also be adopted to address economic problems in developed countries.
