ABSTRACT

The Viennese Waltz is one of the most attractive of the ballroom dances and has been a popular dance on the Continent for many years. The Viennese Waltz must be used in all ballroom championships. There are seven main figures: the Reverse and Natural Turns, the Forward and Backward Changes, the Reverse and Natural Fleckerls, and the Check from Reverse to Natural Fleckerl. When danced in competitions and tests, dancers have traditionally been restricted to this Continental version of the dance; in recent years, however, these restrictions have been relaxed, and there are now a great number of new figures which are permitted.
