ABSTRACT
Chapter 8 describes the actor and social networks in which we all exist, knowingly or unknowingly, and the dynamics and rules by which they operate, from connection and contagion to homophily and propinquity. And it is only by understanding these hidden forces that we can have any chance of recognising what is within our power to control and what isn’t. Fundamentally, we are as much a part of our social networks as they are a part of us.
