ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 examines the cumulative impact on macro-environmental change on how we work, how we organise ourselves, how we connect and how we lead. As we recognise a fourth or fifth industrial revolution, we can start to identify how this is impacting the world of work, the shape of organisations and how we work every day. This includes the impact of technology, changes to organisational structure and service models, the impact of globalisation, demographics and social media and the changing nature of careers and aspirations and therefore the role of leaders and managers.
