ABSTRACT
The afterword tries to identify traits in the works examined and finds commonalities between those on the right and those on the left and arrives at an understanding of the elite class as a whole and why certain problems get more emphasis over others because of how the writer is positioned ideologically. Emerging from all this is a more complex picture of India and its classes than any of the writing examined does on its own individually.
