ABSTRACT

Corporations exist in society but they usually do not realize their responsibility to self, culture, societies and the world. The present discourse of corporate social responsibility seeks to remedy this but it does not go far enough. Against this backdrop, the present chapter offers visions and pathways of corporate spiritual responsibility that can help us transform existing conceptions and practices of corporations, responsibility, corporate social responsibility, state, market, self and society. It explores the frames and ways of responsibility which goes beyond existing polarities such as state and market, market and NGOs and brings us to fields, circles and spirals of responsibilization in which all these constituent actors are co-present and interact with each other in a spirit of autonomy, interaction, interpretation and transformation.
