ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author brings a poet’s eye and a spiritual sensibility to this work. He argues that we need to find a new way and that his concept of integral development operationalizes that new way. The concept offers an ontology of wholeness in which, as he states: the aesthetic, ecological and our work of intelligence come together as a creative process of human development. The author develops such themes with his explorations of bio-happiness. Such thinking finds ample support in both academic discourse and also Vedantic philosophy where the concepts of dharma and ananda, rooted in the very heart of an earth centric cosmology invite a prophetic temper into his writing. Understanding meaning thus requires a deep symbolic approach where we need to dance with the meaning of meaning rather than fix it while standing still in a manner of arrogance and certitude.
